This is good for you as a consumer for two reasons: one, your investment will last for a long time. In fact, you would likely be able to find a number of vintage lever machines readily available online in perfect working condition. If that sounds like you, a manual machine might be a good addition to your coffee collection.Īnother great benefit of manual machines is that they are built to last. Most people who invest in a manual espresso machine find something beautiful and artistic about being able to physically pull an espresso shot out of a machine. That makes it an excellent option for anyone wanting to explore different tastes and methods. While that is true, there are plenty of reasons to consider a manual machine if you are serious about your coffee.įor one, because you literally control the amount of pressure that goes into pulling a shot of espresso, there is a huge amount of variation and experimentation possible. It might sound silly to be investing in a manual espresso machine when there are all kinds of other espresso machines on the market that have more options for control and still require enough technique for the truly dedicated to feel like they have earned their shot. Watch this longer video to learn more about how a direct lever espresso machine works. If you're not willing to use fresh whole bean coffee and a high-quality coffee grinder, you won't be pulling too many good shots of espresso. That can be fun if you’re ready to experiment, or daunting if you are fearful of the number of bad shots you’ll have to pull before finding a good one.īe aware that manual machines are unforgiving to bad grinds, old coffee beans, and uneven temperatures. With a direct lever machine, you not only have to learn how much pressure to use to pull a good shot, but also learn to vary that pressure for different coffees and roasts.Ī spring piston machine is a little different in this regard, but you still have an enormous amount of control over the other factors. There’s a steep learning curve involved since you are now in control of one of the most important factors of coffee extraction: the pressure. Manual espresso machines are not immediately intuitive or easy to operate.Įven if you’re a skilled barista, your first few shots from a lever machine are likely going to disappoint you.

Thread scheduling is done in hardware, so they have the same performance there. Maybe you should approach this problem from another angle: what can you do with one of the frameworks that you can't do with the other? They both use the same drivers, so both will support fancy technologies that come out with new hardware. I dont think that that would be time well spent, though. You could choose a few and compare your results. There are the NVIDIA Code Examples, done in both CUDA and OpenCL. This is what you ask for, but I don't know anything like that in existence - people will choose either technology for their bigger projects and won't write everything twice. Results will differ, so you would have to have a big test suite. But you won't be able to deduce from that experiment that you'll get similar results on another program, or with different hardware. The problem with benchmarks is obviously that you only can objectively evaluate very specific things - say, the same program done in CUDA and OpenCL, on the same hardware (as you named a source). Fair warning though, I might get some stuff wrong. Not being a performance/benchmarking expert I can only try to give you a few general thoughts on OpenCL vs. Just to stop speculating about this or that, I'd like to check everything by myself, but I need you to help me! Is there an OpenCL benchmark set, universally accepted, I can use to compare with native code? Is there an analogous of CUDA SDK written in OpenCL code? In the case of Pthread or Windows threads, I really have no idea, but I think that "generality" and multi-architecture approach will always have something to "pay". That is good, ok, but is there a loss of performance by migrating from a native programming library to OpenCL? In the case of nVidia GeForces, I've already found an article were two realizations of the same program - CUDA vs OpenCL code - were compared and the first one seemed to be more performant. OpenCL should be the first parallel architecture programming standard, and it'll be eventually adopted by the most part of programmers. I can read around a lot about OpenCL, and it seems to be the most promising (the only one?) multi-architecture library. Depending on which part of the brain experiences damage, symptoms of a stroke may vary. When the brain is cut off from oxygen a stroke occurs. The brain needs oxygen-rich blood and an uninterrupted blood flow to function properly. Someone who suffers a frontal lobe stroke may experience issues with all or some of these functions during and following the stroke. Also, they can run into problems with reasoning and language.įrontal – The frontal lobe controls a ton of different movements including the eyes, limbs, emotions, and speech. Parietal – When a stroke occurs within the parietal lobe, one may feel the loss of sensation in the limbs. Someone may experience changes to their vision as the result of a stroke within the occipital lobe. Occipital – The occipital portion of the brain is associated with vision. To suffer from a stroke within the temporal lobe one might experience memory loss. Temporal – The temporal lobe is where we effectively process language, word recognition, hearing, smell, and important facets of our personality like memory and emotion. One might also experience a tingly or numb feeling within the limbs as a result of a stroke to this part of the brain. A stroke that affects the cerebellum may cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and issues with coordination and balance. Sometimes, a stroke within the brain stem can be fatal.Ĭerebellum – The cerebellum controls our balance and basic coordination. This places additional pressure on the brain stem as well. This usually means the area around the brain stem is swollen. Severe results of a stroke affecting this area can cause an individual to go into a coma. Damage to the brain stem can alter major natural functions such as breathing, digestion, heart rate, and more. īrain Stem – Starting with the lower portion of the brain, the brain stem can be heavily affected by a stroke. Strokes can also take place in different areas of the brain, which can cause a variety of side effects including brain damage. In severe cases, strokes can come with obvious signs of anguish or pain in a person. Even if the individual claims that the symptoms are no longer apparent, medical help should be sought as soon as possible in case delayed complications arise following a stroke. Issues with cognitive skills and abilityĭuring any time, if any of these silent symptoms are noticed, an ambulance should be called immediately.Temporary loss of basic muscle movement (bladder included).Unlike events such as a heart attack where there could be obvious signs of discomfort or pain, a silent stroke may include the following symptoms: Those who do not know they have had a stroke may go longer leaving their bodies untreated for stroke prevention. Silent stroke symptomsĪ stroke that is followed by lesser-known or less obvious symptoms can sometimes be far more damaging to the brain and body as a whole. However, the results of having a stroke can have a huge effect on a person’s body, including permanent damage to the brain and brain cells. This means it is completely possible to have a stroke without even noticing. Many people are aware of the obvious signs of a stroke such as an excess drooping of the face due to relaxed muscles, but the fact is, there can also be silent stroke symptoms. The combination of the P98 and Mango Isle has resulted in very unusual flavors that range from meaty skunked lime to creamy earthy spearmint. The common starling or European starling ( Sturnus vulgaris), also known simply as the starling in Great Britain and Ireland, is a medium-sized passerine bird in the starling family, Sturnidae.NIGHT OWL SEEDS > VACATION BUBBA AUTO (PRE 98 EPISODE 1 F3 X MANGO ISLE F1)Įxpect large, stout plants with heavy yields of top shelf herb. It is about 20 cm (8 in) long and has glossy black plumage with a metallic sheen, which is speckled with white at some times of year. The legs are pink and the bill is black in winter and yellow in summer young birds have browner plumage than the adults. It is a noisy bird, especially in communal roosts and other gregarious situations, with an unmusical but varied song. Its gift for mimicry has been noted in literature including the Mabinogion and the works of Pliny the Elder and William Shakespeare. The common starling has about 12 subspecies breeding in open habitats across its native range in temperate Europe and across the Palearctic to western Mongolia, and it has been introduced to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Argentina, South Africa and Fiji. This bird is resident in western and southern Europe and southwestern Asia, while northeastern populations migrate south and west in the winter within the breeding range and also further south to Iberia and North Africa. The common starling builds an untidy nest in a natural or artificial cavity in which four or five glossy, pale blue eggs are laid. These take two weeks to hatch and the young remain in the nest for another three weeks. There are normally one or two breeding attempts each year. This species is omnivorous, taking a wide range of invertebrates, as well as seeds and fruit. It is hunted by various mammals and birds of prey, and is host to a range of external and internal parasites. Large flocks typical of this species can be beneficial to agriculture by controlling invertebrate pests however, starlings can also be pests themselves when they feed on fruit and sprouting crops. Common starlings may also be a nuisance through the noise and mess caused by their large urban roosts. Introduced populations in particular have been subjected to a range of controls, including culling, but these have had limited success, except in preventing the colonisation of Western Australia. The species has declined in numbers in parts of northern and western Europe since the 1980s due to fewer grassland invertebrates being available as food for growing chicks. Despite this, its huge global population is not thought to be declining significantly, so the common starling is classified as being of least concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The common starling was first described by Carl Linnaeus in his Systema Naturae in 1758 under its current binomial name. Sturnus and vulgaris are derived from the Latin for "starling" and "common" respectively. The Old English staer, later stare, and the Latin sturnus are both derived from an unknown Indo-European root dating back to the second millennium BC. "Starling" was first recorded in the 11th century, when it referred to the juvenile of the species, but by the 16th century it had already largely supplanted "stare" to refer to birds of all ages. The older name is referenced in William Butler Yeats' poem "The Stare's Nest by My Window". The International Ornithological Congress's preferred English vernacular name is common starling. The starling family, Sturnidae, is an entirely Old World group apart from introductions elsewhere, with the greatest numbers of species in Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. worms return like squirmin' germs look at these worms worm become in ground, never found worm fell, i smell the iconic worm comeback video you'll never guess what these worms will say next worms drive me bananas these worms still make me smile worms. The interior was spacious with the walls painted with warm colors. The staff was very friendly and treated me like a guest rather than a customer. On the other hand, the service at the restaurant was very wonderful. My first experience was less than stellar, but then again I did dine during the last half hour of business. The steak was super chewy and stretchy to the point that I was wondering if I was eating a small chunk of rubber rather than meat. Unfortunately when eating, I noticed one major flaw with the steak kabobs in that they were not good quality meat. Around $13 the meal is a bit expensive for some folks, however the restaurant offers cheaper alternatives each as delicious as the next. Pictured above is one of the restaurants most popular meals, chicken and steak kabobs served with a side pasta, cold salad, and pita bread. Located right next to the Quickfire Hibachi in Germantown (19869 Century BLVD), Zoe’s Kitchen is a restaurant that specializes in Mediterranean meals and sides. Better to go to jersey mikes or Chevys next door or even dominos. With all the restaurants in the area serving burgers, pizza, and noodles, it’s very welcoming to see a new restaurant serving food that the average person might not have known. If you don’t care about feeling like you are gross Chinese and want a cheap meal it’s not bad. There are some specials going on right now that make it even more of a good deal but not sure how long it will last. The brown mayo sauce thing they provide tasted like nothing. More of a gross egg roll flavor, and that was even when fresh. The gyoza was lame as was the spring rolls with too much batter or roll or something and not much filling. The spicy parts of volcano rolls and similar ones was not spicy. The sushi wasn’t all that cheap and pretty boring. The tofu was embarrassingly bad, like indelible bad where you don’t even eat one past the first bite. The cheapest thing on the menu, the chicken, was good actually. The noodles were good, not that thick and very greasy but tasty. The fried rice was lame, basically just white rice. Definitely take to go and you have more food. You do get to pick from noodles, fried rice, veggies (like panda), a cucumber salad, house salad, or pasta salad. Drinks are extra, as are the add ons with varying prices. It doesn’t mention (and the staff only answers direct questions) what costs extra. For example it says to pick the meat, then the add on, then the drink, then the starch. The prices are good but keep in mind the menu is super confusing and unclear on what is included. Not exactly a good thing (although I sadly have a soft spot for panda for some reason). Very similar to Sarku, or food court Japanese, or Panda Express. Don’t forget the punch card where when you purchase 5 hibachi meals, you get 1 free hibachi chicken. A pretty good place for the Route 1 area if you’re looking for a lunch option. I think I would stick with the chicken teriyaki, and maybe try it with the noodles, as that seemed to be a popular option for the starch. The staff were very friendly and sweet, and the food was prepared in front of you. I like how they give you their version of the ‘yum yum’ sauce which was a creamy mayo sauce. The teriyaki sauce wasn’t too sweet, and definitely better on the chicken that was cooked the way I liked it, with a crispy exterior! The salad was fresh, and I enjoyed the dressing - you can ask for extra dressing as well! The shrimp tempura was nicely fried with a great batter I wasn’t a fan of either the dumplings or the Hibachi Chicken Roll (basically hibachi chicken teriyaki stuffed in a California roll) as they both had a funny after-taste. The beef had a Beef and Broccoli texture where it was soft, so I wasn’t a fan. I had the Beef Plate with white rice, with the salad, and added on dumplings, Hibachi Chicken Roll, and tempura shrimp. They have a ‘Build Your Plate’ where you choose your protein (chicken, beef, shrimp, salmon, tofu, chicken & beef combo, chicken & shrimp combo, beef & shrimp combo, salmon & shrimp combo, or chicken & tofu combo), then your side (either a salad with their nice creamy dressing or steamed vegetables), and any extra add-ons (extra meat, spring rolls, dumplings, California rolls, Hibachi Chicken Roll, tempura, or nigiri) they also serve maki rolls, such as shrimp tempura, salmon avocado, Green Dragon, Salmon Lover, etc. We decided to give Quickfire Hibachi a try - I remember seeing this when I used to drive to work, being recently opened. 5: My husband and I are big fans of Sarku, the quick to-go chicken teriyaki joint.
